News from the Weavers

With the advent of the colder weather, one would think that the Fibre Group would go into some form of warm hibernation, but not so. We have already had an exhibition in Cobargo for the past month, where some of our members have successfully sold many of their creations. The third workshop run for the Quaama folk affected by the fires is to be held in the Quaama Community Hall on Saturday 4th June. This last hands-on day is to give experience of the Rigid Heddle Loom. Participants will be making a scarf which will be worn home at the end of the day. As usual with these sorts of workshops, the Fibre Group provided all equipment, threads and instruction free of charge as we see this as part of our commitment to the community. The days are extremely enjoyable for everyone, Fibre people and workshop participants alike. We often find that some join the group and become regular members.

At present we have no concrete plans for more activities but there are a few in the planning stage for later in the year.  If you are interested in learning more about any of the many fibre based crafts practiced within the group, please come along and meet us. We have one meeting per month in the CWA Rooms in Cobargo and four meetings per month in our rooms at OBH. https://www.facebook.com/groups/293724967749601/
